What is Proofreading?

Proofreading– not to be confused with editing– is the final checkup and fine-tuning done to someone’s writing. We make the final checks on grammar, spelling, style consistency, format, punctuation, and look out for typos. We can work on a variety of projects like essays, blog posts, magazine articles, and resumes, just to name a few things.

For added clarification, proofreaders don’t work on:

Fact-checking

Plot

Hooks and prompts

Adding/deleting/rearranging content

We examine the documents and mark any mistakes or potential confusions for the client to view when the document is returned.

COMMUNICATION IS VITAL!

If you want my services, you can contact me by my email address ingrum.caitlin@aol.com or on my Fiverr account (Name to be added), and I will get back to you within twenty-four hours.

We will discuss the project, what you’re expecting for me to do, deadlines, and any other important information such as whether you’re employing American or British spelling in the project (yes, there is a difference). Part of the discussion will be a detailed description of the project.

Unless you request otherwise, I will be using the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) for reference. I will email you a short preference sheet to fill out if you want a different style. Otherwise, you don’t have to bother with it.

Generally, I prefer to use Microsoft Word, but I’m open to using Google Docs if necessary (it doesn’t necessarily matter which one you use to write the project). I currently don’t work Adobe Acrobat.

My current rate is $0.02 per word.

I’m taking payment through PayPal under my email address listed above.
